The Breast Surgery Department encompasses a variety of surgical procedures, including the removal of cancerous tissue from the breast and the treatment of benign breast diseases. The selection of surgical procedures is based on various factors, and among the most common surgeries are:

Lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery): This procedure involves the removal of the tumor (the lump or mass) along with a margin of healthy breast tissue around it.

Mastectomy: A mastectomy is the surgical removal of the entire breast. Some types of mastectomy procedures include Total (simple) Mastectomy, Modified Radical Mastectomy, Skin-Sparing Mastectomy, and Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy.

Axillary Lymph Node Dissection:
This involves the removal of multiple lymph nodes for further examination.

Breast Reconstruction
: Following mastectomy, reconstruction can be achieved using implants or the patient’s own tissue (flap reconstruction). It may be performed immediately after mastectomy or as a separate procedure.

Prophylactic Mastectomy:   Individuals at high risk of breast cancer due to strong family history or genetic mutations (e.g., BRCA1 or BRCA2) may opt for a prophylactic mastectomy.
